What are the current trends in mobile VPN technology that you find most exciting?
Roch T., COO –
“Firstly, Broadband Networks:
With the staggering rise of smart phones and other devices requiring network connectivity, the demand for quickly generated data at any time has grown. To accommodate such a demand, Broadband Networks such as Wifi 6, LTE and 5G networks technology has begun deploying more and more across the digital landscape. Said technology is slowly but surely being adopted by many individuals, companies, corporations and even government agencies, both for personal and professional use.
Through higher download speeds and greatly reduced latency, this new generation of networks technology allows for multiple devices to be connected at once across different environments, going from centralized networks to distributed clouds due to a higher bandwidth. As a result, various mobile apps are now being developed with these new network infrastructures in mind.
Still, this next generation of mobile network may be great and all, but that still doesn’t make them immune to potential security treats. That’s where we plan to come in with our certified mobile VPN solutions, not only to fend off these potential threats, but also to guarantee an easy and consistent connection to said networks, aka Session Persistence, all the while taking advantage of their unique infrastructures.
Secondly, Session Persistence:
Thanks to these current networks allowing for more flexibility, more and more agency personnel use mobile devices on complex wireless networks, granting them the ability to access mission critical applications and data from anywhere, at any time. This need for flexibility and mobility brings a new set of challenges, most notably for maintaining network connectivity as mobile device users rely more on constant real-time data access.
However, when going trough poorly covered areas (i.e. blind spots), connectivity can be severely affected, if not entirely severed, booting out device users out of their session. Therefore, as hinted previously, Session Persistence is gaining more prominence in the field of mobile VPN technology, as mobile security providers are now developing ways of effectively maintain Session Persistence for as long as possible without hindering user experience.
And finally, High availability:
The increasing reliance on digital platforms for business operations, data storage, and communication has heightened the demand for high availability servers. Organizations recognize the imperative need for uninterrupted access to critical resources. As businesses migrate their operations to the cloud, the need for reliable and resilient infrastructure becomes paramount, as high availability servers can have many applications across various industries, including banking, financial services, and insurance, telecommunications services, and others.
Consequently, the demand for high availability servers is increasing from one industry to another and is anticipated to rise even more in the foreseeable future. Also, the rapid implementation of IT cloud-based solutions and services, such as our own, is acting as the key drivers for the high availability server growth during the forecasted period.
So, in summery…
In a world where broadband networks will soon become the norm; this need for persistence when network connectivity is lost for any reason (i.e. blind spots) allows users to access multiple applications quickly and efficiently without any worry of sensitive data loss.”
What are the biggest security challenges facing mobile networks today?
Roch T., COO – “As a figurehead in mobile communications, Radio IP offers a wide range of customizable solutions in order to overcome the biggest challenges regarding mobile network security:
Performance
Mobile apps and networks are becoming incredibly complex: they’re becoming increasingly data-rich and dynamic, which opens a world of possible innovations… but also several failure points: spanning codes, devices themselves, mobile device users, as well as other connectivity variables.
One of the most challenging types of issues to troubleshoot are performance and stability issues that stem from networking. Whether it’s discovering failures that are specific to your mobile apps, understanding a networking issue’s impact across your users, or getting to the root cause of a seemingly unrelated issue that ultimately is a networking one, it’s vital to have visibility into client-side network performance within the context of user experiences.
Connectivity
Every day, network connected devices and apps become more prominent in our daily lives and all support at a base level by network architecture. To keep pace with innovation, networks must be diverse and close to the technologies and people they support. As enterprises forge ahead with digital transformation efforts that drive hybrid work structures and look to take advantage of emerging technologies, evolved network architecture will be a major key to success.
Roaming
Roaming issues can create enormous connectivity headaches, especially in large organizations that require extensive coverage areas. A device cannot truly be mobile unless it can seamlessly maintain its Wi-Fi connection as it moves throughout a space. Mobility is now crucial for a variety of sectors, from corporations to government agencies, or in other words, settings where on-the-go activities rely on consistent connectivity.
That is why our solutions are specifically designed for today’s mobile infrastructures, as they enable mobile users to seamlessly roam across all network environments.
Security
Nowadays, agency employees rely more on data management in order to tend to conduct business, requiring corporate networks to grow more complex in order to accommodate them in their daily tasks. As networks become increasingly complex, multiple security threat actors are also raising their game when it comes to exploiting new potential vulnerabilities. Cybercriminals now have the means to infiltrate corporate networks and get a hold of classified data by taking advantage of different device users across an organization’s fleet, which can cause a variety of issues that can range from reputational harm to operational risks.
Therefore, the primary goal of network security is to prevent unauthorized access into or between parts of a network. Thus, having a reliable security solution is vital in protecting classified client data and information, keeping it secure while ensuring reliable network access and performance, as well as protection from cyber threats.”
Where do you see the future of mobile VPNs heading in the next five years?
Roch T., COO – “With the increasing reliance on mobile devices, as mentioned previously, more and more VPN providers will begin pushing towards mobile VPN solutions to cater specifically to mobile users and workforces. Future VPN apps will offer seamless integration with smartphones and tablets, ensuring that users are protected regardless of their device.
Mobile VPNs will also feature enhanced security features such as anti-phishing protection, real-time threat detection, and secure app and data sandboxing. In fact, we can expect even greater strides in enhancing user privacy. VPN providers will employ stronger encryption protocols, making it virtually impossible for cybercriminals to intercept and decipher your online communications, preventing data breaches and maintaining consistent wireless network connectivity from anywhere, at any time.
In addition, with the increasing use of AI technology in developing stronger predictability and analysis capabilities of raw data, various pioneers in the mobile security industry, such as us, are developing a new approach to cybersecurity software in mobile environments for the foreseeable future, focusing more on automation and streamlining network management with real-time data/variables. This, in turn, will allow them to provide even more accurate information to different IT leaderships in preparing them for either predicting, preventing, or defending against ever-increasing and complexifying threats across the digital realm on a global scale.
In short, the next five years seem to be bright and promising for mobile VPNs, as essential tools and features will continually evolve to meet the growing demands of the digital realm, opening the door to both product and process improvements. However, as we embrace the future of mobile VPNs, it will become even more important to remain vigilant, educate ourselves, and advocate for the preservation of our digital rights and privacy in an ever-changing online landscape.
As for us, Radio IP is strengthening its new positioning of technological solutions integrator by creating lasting and quality partnerships that will generate a great synergy between all the stakeholders involved in the long run, pooling our respective strengths for customer benefits, as they will be the ones benefiting from all future innovations.
Let’s redefine the future of secure mobility!“
